Ashes and Dust
2008
Printed paper
49 x 37 inches
Ashes and Dust is the most minimal work in the show and was made at a point when the artist was researching new materials. A thin layer of the paper was torn by hand with one gesture. Abdale states, "It is an unexpectedly reductive piece." As with many of the works in the exhibition, Ashes and Dust references alchemy, science and magic.
